Call for Director

DIRECTOR WANTED. PASSION REQUIRED!

Due to an unexpected scheduling conflict, the board of Olathe Civic Theatre Association (OCTA) is reopening its search for a director to bring to life a contemporary drama in the March/April spot during our exciting 2018-2019 season. We invite directors to submit a script (or scripts – up to three) to direct at OCTA.

Send script title(s) to board member Peter G. Leondedis at pgleondedis@yahoo.com with your theatrical resume by March 19, 2018. Your availability should be late February through April 2019. If you have a PDF of the script or scripts, please forward with your submission, but it is not required.

OCTA selected its 2018/2019 season based on submissions from directors. We encourage all directors to submit shows for which you have a passion to help fill this last spot. The contemporary drama will be one of five productions, which is a mix of musicals, comedies and dramas.

Also take into consideration that OCTA productions have certainly stretched and put our wonderfully intimate theatre to the test, but the OCTA stage is geared toward shows with less-complicated, or versatile unit, sets—many of our past productions have used imaginative staging within the entire space. Click here for our stage dimensions to use as a guideline for consideration with submission(s). A history of our past productions is here to provide a sense of what OCTA has produced to date. Don’t be afraid to submit something we’ve produced before—we’re open to reviving a production from our history!

At OCTA we own our building. Directors have access to the performance space for rehearsals from day one, so you won’t have to lug props or costumes from one location to another. Also, we don’t interfere with your artistic decisions—show us you can do it and we’ll help make it possible!

We will review the submissions and let candidates know if we would like to set up an interview. We will make this decision as quickly as possible.

OCTA’s goal is to help bring your theatrical artistry alive, and we hope you’ll consider partnering with us to produce great theatre. We look forward to seeing your submissions no later than March 19, 2018.

Sincerely,
Ellie DeShon
