AUDITION & CALLBACK INFORMATION
 
**Actors of all ethnicities, abilities, and gender identities are welcome and encouraged to audition. We will only be considering actors ages 18+.**
 
General Auditions: Sunday June 22nd, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
 
General Auditions will be held at the Salvation Army Olathe Corps, located at 420 E. Santa Fe St. Olathe, KS 66061

**Please complete your audition form prior to auditions. Each 15-minute slot has room for 3 people. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your audition time.**
 

Callbacks will be by director invitation only and will take place Sunday, June 29th from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00p.m. at OCTA.
 

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Rehearsals will be Monday-Thursday, from 7-10 p.m. and Sundays from 2-5 p.m. Rehearsals will be held at OCTA unless otherwise noted.
 

WHAT TO PREPARE/BRING:
– Please prepare a 1-3 minute song cut which shows your vocal range and acting ability. We are looking for strong singer/actors with a good ability to harmonize and sing in a contemporary style. You are strongly encouraged to sing a selection from the show. Please bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Please no acapella or audio tracks.
 
– Please bring a copy of your resume and current headshot if available, along with ALL of your conflicts from August 4th – September 21st, 2025. If you do not have a headshot or resume, please do not let that stop you from auditioning!

Trigger Warning: DV/SA. This show contains physical violence, sexual violence, and domestic violence. Please take care and audition only if you are comfortable participating. If there are any roles you do NOT want to be considered for, please include that on your audition form.

 

ABOUT THE SHOW
Based on Joseph Moncure March’s 1928 narrative poem of the same name, The Wild Party is a tale of jealousy, decadence, and an explosive evening in 1920s Manhattan.
After a violent event, lovers Queenie and Burrs decide to throw a party to try to move past that. A colorful collection of guests arrives, and Queenie forms a connection with Black, sending Burrs into a jealous rage.
 

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
 

QUEENIE (F3-F5): Age: 20 to 30. Gender: Female presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Blonde, beautiful singer with an innocent but aging face. Sexually ambitious. Afraid of being alone. She has become addicted to Burrs’ presence and ravenous sexual appetite.
 

BURRS (G3-A5): Age: 25 to 40. Gender: Male presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Professional clown. Dangerous and charming all at once. Has a sexual obsession with Queenie that eats away at his sanity until his jealous becomes overwhelming.
 

BLACK (F3-G5): Age: 25 to 35; Gender: Male presenting; Ethnicity: African American desired; An enigmatic loner. Protective. No-nonsense guy who cannot understand Queenie’s attraction to Burrs.
 

KATE (F3-E5): Age: 20 to 30 Gender: Female presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Confident, wild, and nihilistic – always looking out for herself. Commands a room with her presence. Jealous of Queenie.
 

OSCAR & PHIL (A3-A5): Age: 25 to 35. Gender(s): Male presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Brothers and lovers who dress as twins. Flamboyant composers and entertainers.
 

MADELINE TRUE (A3-E5): Age: 35 to 55. Gender: Female presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Dry-witted lesbian with a cruel mouth. Sexually hungry. Blunt and very dry.
 

EDDIE (A3-A5): Age: 30 to 45. Gender: Male presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Pugilist. Mae’s boyfriend who is perhaps even more dimwitted than she is. Can be a lovable teddy bear but also a quick-tempered brute. A showman. Cocky. Highly protective of women.
 

MAE (A3-D5): Age: 25 to 45. Gender: Female presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Eddie’s girlfriend. Beautiful and dumb and sweet. Adores her boyfriend and dotes on him.
 

NADINE (A3-A5): Age: looks 16 to 18 (will only be casting 18+); Gender: Female presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Precocious minor who is preyed on by multiple characters.
 

JACKIE (Flexible): Age: 20 to 35. Gender: Male presenting; Ethnicity: Any; A dancer who does not speak. He is full of life and energy, both physical and sexual. He is adored but lonely. Has a dance solo.
 

SAM (A2-G4): Age: 30 to 50. Gender: Male presenting; Ethnicity: Any; An attention-loving producer.
 

DOLORES (A3-A5): Age: 30 to 45. Gender: Female presenting; Ethnicity: Any; Prostitute. A party-goer pitching ideas and hoping to score with Sam.
 

MAX (A3- B5): Age: 25 to 35. Gender: Male presenting; Ethnicity: Any; One of the party goers and a member of the usual “gang.” He is full of life and energy.
 

Ensemble: All ranges, all ages, all genders, all ethnicities.
 

ADDITIONAL NOTES
 

Cast members are required to assist with strike following the final performance. Cast members may also be asked to assist with costume pieces and set work days.
