Colton Rice
Treasurer, House Manager
Colton Rice has been part of the OCTA family since 2021, where he fell in love with the space while working on the lighting design for RENT. We’re not sure Colton has left the building since then, as he’s been involved in 9 mainstage productions (and counting); some of those productions include up to 3 design elements at once. Colton also serves as our resident Lighting Designer for our auxiliary productions (Home for the Holidays, Buddy Awards) and serves on the Development Committee, helping to expand our Second-Stage & Educational Series with OCTA Kids!, OCTA: Unplugged, and a new Dance Review concept coming later this fall!
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors since February of 2024, Colton works with area high schools as a Lighting Design Mentor, helping the next generation of artists foster their skills. Colton was a scholarship recipient for theatre at Kansas State University; he played Peter Van Daan in a 2006 national tour of The Diary of Anne Frank; and he has received numerous nominations and awards for his design work throughout the KC theatre community over the years.
