Stephen Schwartz and John Caird set the story of Adam, Eve, Noah and the “Father” to a poignant, sweeping score. This musical takes the universal problems and blessings of children and their parents to new heights. Follow their moments of love and of letting go with songs like, “In the Beginning,” “Stranger to the Rain” and “Lost in the Wilderness.” This smaller-cast version of Children of Eden takes the stage September 10th-26th, 2021.
Peter and the Starcatcher

Be still my heart! OCTA audiences finally get to see the drama unfold in Mark St. Germain’s smartly written medical thriller. A cross between a court-room drama and a soap opera, this play asks the question: Who plays God? Is it the priest? The lawyer? The hospital board? The doctor? When a heart suddenly becomes available, a transplant team has to decide who lives and who continues living life on the waiting list. Find out how they grapple with the decision March 18th – April 3rd 2022. The God Committee is presented in honor of National Donate Life Month in April.
A New Brain

As the medical team works to diagnose and treat him, Gordon is guided by family, friends and a hallucination of a singing frog from the children’s television show for which he’s been trying to compose. A New Brain forces Gordon to take a look at the life he’s lived and wonder: Have I made my mark? What should I create with the time I have left? With a contemporary score and book by William Finn and James Lapine, audiences will enjoy this witty story of one man finding and using his voice. The Curious Savage

OCTA’s final show of the season is the story of an elderly widow named Mrs. Savage, whose husband has left her $10 million dollars. She intends to give the entire fortune away to people who wish to pursue their “foolish dreams.” However, her greedy stepchildren have other plans and have her committed to a sanatorium. There, the caring residents become Mrs. Savage’s true family. John Patrick’s The Curious Savage is a warm comedy audiences will enjoy June 10th – 26th, 2022.

Olathe Civic Theatre Association is a 501c3 organization producing theatre in Olathe since 1974. Performing in the Buddy Rogers Family Playhouse, OCTA produces five high-quality, engaging, and thought-provoking theatre productions a year, as well as annual special events and a scholarship program.
Through the generosity of volunteers, season ticket holders, donors, and the City of Olathe, OCTA has grown into one of the most progressive community theaters in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
