event summary

You know the drill.  Big house.  Middle of nowhere, outside of a small, nondescript midwestern town (they don’t tell you the specifics on where so they can shoot the movie like 45 minutes outside LA and pretend they’re in Ohio).

On the tenth anniversary of a terrible massacre that rocked this nondescript (purposely, for budget reasons) town to its core, the landline rings (omg remember landlines??), and a sweet teenage girl, who is home alone (which feels dumb, given the context, and the fact that we know how tropes work), picks up.  On the other end of the line, a sinister voice invites her into a world of terror. Could this be a copycat of the original killer??  And wait, do I hear other voices in the background, that weirdly sound exactly like the siblings that inherited the local funeral home and cemetery after their parents disappeared about 10 years ago (wait, that’s right before the massacre…oh well!  I’m sure they’re completely unconnected)?

Will the girl survive?  Will the killers succeed?  Are the killers…really bad at being killers?  Seriously, is this their first time?

There’s only one g*dd****d m*****f*****g way to find out (there will be a lot of cussing, because, like, genre or whatever).
