WHAT TO EXPECT
Auditions and callbacks will consist of cold reads from the script. No monologues required. Please
come prepared with a list of all conflicts between July 28th and September 22nd.
If you are unable to make the audition times, please submit a video audition consisting of one
dramatic monologue, no longer than 2 minutes, to director Heather J. Ives by July 15th. Send any

LIST OF CHARACTERS
CATHERINE (female) is 25 years old and gifted with her father’s talent for numbers. She gave up her
scholarly pursuits to take care of her ailing father in his final years. Knowing she’s been gifted with
mathematical abilities, Catherine also worries she’ll inherit more than just his genius. Notes on
performance: This character has a stage kiss with Hal. This actor may also be asked to perform
from within the audience.
ROBERT (male) is a father to Catherine and Claire and mentor to Hal. A brilliant mathematician
who, in the later years of his life, suƯered from a severe delusional mental illness. Seen via
flashbacks, we get a look at him in various states of mental decline. Notes on performance: This
actor must be comfortable performing from within the audience.
HAL (male) 28, is one of Robert’s Ph.D. students and idolizes Robert as one of his mentors. After
Robert’s death, he begins to sift through the notebooks of Robert’s work left behind. In his pursuit of
combing through the piles of notebooks left behind, he is drawn closer to Catherine. Notes on
performance: This character has a stage kiss with Catherine.
Claire (female) is Catherine’s older sister. She’s moved from Chicago to New York, leaving her
younger sister behind to care for their ailing father. She is concerned her sister may be following in
her father’s footsteps and wants to move Catherine out of the family home and back to New York
with her.
